A historic player in the local economy
Created in 1969, the Fibre Excellence mill in Saint-Gaudens produces about 280,000 tons of pulp per year used to manufacture many everyday products (paper, hygiene products, packaging).
It employs almost 300 people and generates over 5,000 indirect jobs in the region.
The mill therefore injects 100 million euros into the local economy every year.

The black liquor left over from pulp production is concentrated and then burned at very high temperatures. During incineration, the organic part of the black liquor is used to generate steam, whereas the mineral part is regenerated.
By-products recycling troughout the production cycle
A biomass boiler is installed to recycle the bark not used in the pulp process (bark boiler).

Saint-Gaudens mill renewed all its certifications in 2022: ISO9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and successfully passed its certification ISO 50001.

Wastewater treatment
Treats the wastewater from the town of Saint-Gaudens
In addition to treating the water used in the industrial process, the mill treats the water from Saint-Gaudens in its wastewater treatment mill.
Power generation
Participates in the region’s energy autonomy
The steam generated by the production process allows the plant to be energy self-sufficient. The generated surpluses are recovered and re-injected into the national grid by Fibre Excellence Energie (up to 60 GWh/year of electricity from renewable sources, i.e. the consumption of 20,000 households).
